Torsion Pendulum

Torsion Pendulum is a device used to demonstrate simple harmonic motion.

Call to order

Torsion Pendulum is a device used to demonstrate simple harmonic motion. It consists of a solid brass disc (12.5 cm in diameter and 1.25 cm thick) suspended by a wire. This pendulum helps explain key concepts like moment of inertia and moment of torsion and how they influence the period of vibration.

FEATURES:

  • A brass chuck nut (pin vise) is used to secure the suspension wire to the disc and a Universal Clamp.
  • Includes a heavy metal ring (made of brass with the same outer diameter as the disc) that increases the moment of inertia and thevibration period when placed on the disc.
  • Comes with a Universal Clamp (Cat No. 2316) and a copper wire of suitable dimensions and length is also provided.
  • ome institutions conduct experiments using clamps mounted directly on walls, while others perform experiments by fixing a universal clamp on a retort stand for support and flexibility.

This apparatus is particularly useful for studying the mechanics of rotational motion in a laboratory setting.
