Bending Moment Apparatus

This apparatus is designed for demonstrating and analyzing the bending moment in a simply supported beam under various load conditions. ·

Beam: Made from well-seasoned wood, 180 cm in length. ·

Support System: · Hinged at 60 cm from one end, allowing for asymmetric load applications. · Two knife-edge end supports mounted on sturdy stands.

Loading Mechanism: Includes a spring balance with an adjusting screw to compensate for the initial extension of the spring, ensuring the beam remains horizontal under all load conditions.

Equipped with three U-shaped sliding weights for varying and positioning loads
along the beam.

This setup is ideal for educational demonstrations in structural engineering and mechanics of materials, allowing students to  understand the concept of internal bending moments and beam deflection under point loads.
